Bridport Town Council is YOUR local authority and has a say over what is done in the town. To be effective the Council must work constructively with others to broaden its influence.

Bridport Conservatives will do this to provide improvements for the town and the wider community. Bridport Conservatives will put forward practical, well-thought-out proposals that push forward your local agenda regardless of party politics.

Bridport Conservatives' priorities for Bridport and West Bay are:

WEST BAY
We support the distirict council in its commitment to regenerate West Bay. £1.3 million funding remains available for this. The refurbished Salt House and the planned play area show what Conservatives can do.

CARE FOR THE ELDERLY
We will work to maintain elderly care services. Day centres will be maintained in spite of grossly unfair settlement by central government to the county council.

TOWN HALL TOILETS
The existing toilets will have to go when the town hall is refurbished. An alternative site must be found. We will work with the district council, which is ken to find the best solution.

WASTE TRANSFER STATION
This is essential but proposed sites at Gore Cross and Burton Road present problems. Our preferred option is south of the A35 towards Miles Cross. Conservatives will campaign for this site and for much-needed road safety improvements along the A35.

GOING GREEN
The town council must set an example with measures in its own buildings. Conservatives have led the way on kerbside recycling and we back the retention of weekly dustbin collections.

SAFETY AND SECURITY
Our streets must be safe. Conservatives welcone the community support oficers. We will lobby for more full-time police officers and continue to back CCTV cameras.
