Get involved
The Conservatives in West Dorset work hard to represent the interests of people who live here. We are always looking for people to support the message. You can help in many ways. Some of these are:
Become a member
Membership of the Party is extremely important. Members help financially to support the professional help we need in West Dorset. We have a full time Agent and assistant. The Conservative Party has more members than Labour & Liberal Democrats put together, and so there is no better time to get involved. You can become a member for as little as £15 (£3 if under 22).
Postal/Proxy Votes
We can arrange for a postal, proxy or overseas vote for you and your family should you be away at any election time. If you need help or information, please call Antony Stanley on 01300 321 188 and he will arrange for a form to be sent. Alternatively visit www.postalvotes.co.uk. Your vote is important – don’t lose it!
Leafleting
We regularly deliver leaflets and newsletters by hand to electors in all areas. We need help in ensuring that our message is sent around quickly and efficiently. If you could help us by delivering your road, or the area around where you live, that would help us enormously. Get in touch if you can help. It's fun and keeps (or gets) you fit!
Support social and fundraising events
You can find out what events are taking place by checking our events diary. These events are great opportunities to meet up with friends and talk about all the current activities around the area. Please feel free to phone the number to book your place at these events.
Canvassing
We canvass voters in 2 ways – by phone and on the doorstep. At different times through the year we try to contact as many people as possible to hear their views and what matters to them. This is always fun and very interesting and not at all daunting. If you like talking to people and wish to help us with this important work, please contact us. We do train our canvassers, so that you can relax and talk with a smile in your voice!
Become a town, district or county councillor
We aim to have a candidate for each ward in 2007. If this interests you, click to find out more on becoming a county councillor or contact us. Find out more about becoming a councillor...
